So glad Isn't That Sweet has come to downtown La Grange. The croissants are buttery and flaky, the cupcakes velvety with a creamy frosting, the tarts oh so tasty! My husband is thrilled they have gluten-free tasty treats! No more sacrifice. They also serve Metropolis coffee which is fantastic. What are you waiting for?

Very clean and nice inside, but not much of a selection when it comes to cupcakes. I have been to cupcake shops in the past and they tend to have at more then five favors to choose from. The item I choose was not great either I have had better and better from the backery down the block (from scratch) and the other one down the block from Starbucks.

What a great place for a sweet tooth. The cup cakes, macaroons, and other desserts are wonderful. And if you are there on a Saturday morning, the fresh baked warm croissants are delicious and no one in our group refrained from seconds or thirds. The coffee was good and we felt very comfortable lingering for a while over coffee, croissants, and conversation. We were in town for my mother`s birthday and had to get ready for the party. The owner, Nicole, set us up with a number of delicacies for the party and the reaction of all of the guests was the same as ours. We would wholeheartedly recommend Isn`t That Sweet to satisfy that sweet tooth or any party needs. In speaking with the owner, Nicole told us that she could provide for parties or meetings of large groups if she is contacted a day or two in advance and let us tell you that she has a quite a repetoire of goodies to choose from. I was so excited when I saw that Isn't That Sweet was being added to the downtown La Grange area. It's a nice addition, and all of the baked goods I've had have been tasty. I've been about four times since they opened and have tried a variety of cupcakes, macarons, and other items. There isn't a huge selection, but I haven't had a hard time finding something I want at each visit. I recently had their churro cupcake and it was fantastic. Salted caramel was tasty as well. I've also had their strawberry rhubarb preserves and enjoyed that as well.

Quality cupcakes and macaroons. The owner is really nice and down to earth. Also this place introduced me to Metropolis coffee, which is also delicious.

I've been here a couple of times now and my experience has been kind of "meh". The cupcakes overall are okay but the frosting isn't great and I usually have to get rid of at least half of it (I usually love frosting). There are usually only 4 or 5 choices for cupcakes and always the choices are always different. Unfortunately, this shop typically only has "designer cupcakes" so if you're looking for a classic (vanilla, chocolate, or red velvet) you're probably not going to get it. I also had a tart the last time I was there which was good but the crust was thicker than I would've liked and it was a bit overpriced. I don't think I would seek this place out again, but if I'm walking by I may stop in to see the cupcakes that are out that day.

You know those moments that make you smile from start to finish? That's how it is at Isn't That Sweet. I bought a collection of different cupcakes to take to a friend's house, and besides being a small-town hero for arriving with dazzling cupcakes, I got a second triumphal march when the eating began. "This is so good!" said one of the kids when she bit into the raspberry lemon mousse cupcake. That sentiment was echoed by all of us as we taste tested five varieties of Isn't That Sweet (great name!) cupcakes. Go here. You'll love the cupcakes. That's a certainty. You'll love the shop. You'll love how sparkling clean it is. And you love the the joy that's at Isn't That Sweet. Cupcakes and smiles. What else does the world need?

I love the LaGrange area with all of it's great little shops and restaurants and Isn't That Sweet is a wonderful addition. I had the Chocolate Salted Caramel cupcake on my visit and it was one of the best cupcakes I have ever had. I definitely look forward to returning. They post their flavors of the week on their FB page along with specials. Definitely worth checking out.

I'm a huge fan of "real" food. Nicole makes the cut and then some with her shop. Her cupcakes are moist and delicious with both traditional flavors and some more adventurous ones to try. She uses REAL buttercream - as in she uses real BUTTER! I don't know who invented "bettercream" but it needs to be abolished for the abomination that it is...anyway, I digress.... Nicole's finesse is seen in the small details....her lemon mousse is light and airy and delicate and sits in a dark shell of crisp baked sable dough...I liked that it was dark as it allowed the brightness of the lemon to shine through. Her mousse is made properly, too - zero "gumminess" or "bounce from too much gelatin and just the right balance of sweet and acidity. Without question the best thing I ate today. My daughter swears by her macaroons and brings her friends there to initiate them into macaroon tasting. Overall, just a cute little shop with a terrific product properly made. I wish you all the best!

Nicole is the best! She is always friendly and we always enjoy when she's in the store when we stop in. Hands down, she has the best cream cheese frosting I've ever had. Red velvet or carrot cake cupcakes are what I'll order, though she sometimes serves a pineapple cupcake that is fantastic. My kids love the macaroons and the tarts are another favorite. I recently had cookies here (special order) and they did not disappoint! This is a great place in a nice spot in LaGrange that you should check out. As other reviewers have mentioned, they have limited flavors that change weekly.

Yippeeee! A new bakery in town! A new bakery in town. Ok, so it's been here awhile. Look, I was out of the country for the summer and needless to say I have been YELPLESS. Anywho, this place is super cute. I am trying to stay away from wheat and all that cray-cray GMO grains that we have going on here in the US. SO I was pleased as punch that they offered, ON A REGULAR basis, delicious gluten free goodies. Yeah, so it's got a load of sugar, but whatevs. Their macaron selection is wonderful. Now, for those of you that get easily confused by your cookies options, macarons, with one "O" are without the coconut. They are typically made with almond flour and egg whites. Yep, and so semi paleo???? So some of the flavors I have tried are chocolate, vanilla, salted caramel, raspberry and green tea. All of which were really good. I have also tried a chocolate gluten free dessert and can not remember the name, only that it was rich and chocolately. The staff that work there are all super friendly and helpful. Please shop here for all your dessert needs. I really want this to stay in business!!!

Very good cupcakes with mounds of delicious frosting and very reasonably priced. The cupcakes were $2.25 or $2.50 each (can't remember which). At Sprinkles downtown, they are almost $4.00 each, so I consider these a bargain. They were just as good, too. Frosting is especially good. Will be back!

I'm so disappointed in this place. I've been twice. Got macaroons the first time and they were ok, nothing to write home about. Last time, we got a very small cupcake that was overpriced for what it was. The cake was on the dry side and the frosting wasn't my favorite. The most disappointing part were the tiny jars of jam we bought. The strawberry-rhubarb was good enough. However, when I opened the blueberry one I heard the pop like it was sealed correctly, but the top was covered in mold. Ewwww. Makes my stomach turn just thinking about it. Finally, the decor leaves so much to be desired. It is so plain, cold feeling, and boring. I can't imagine going there with friends to chat. The space is very uninviting. I will not be returning.

Isn't That Sweet is a great addition to LaGrange! We stopped in for a some treats for the kids as well as a hostess gift for party we were going to later that evening. We got several yummy treats, but the best by far was the Chocolate Salted Caramel cupcake! It was so moist and delicious that I actually purchased two more to go. The frosting was so light, creamy and tasty. Not at all like the gobs of gross buttercream that you get at your local grocery store. Our friend loved the lemon macaroons as well as the bacorn that we surprised her with!! We can't wait to come back and by the chocolate stained faces of my kids, they can't either!

Isn't That Sweet is absolutely delicious! From the macarons to the cupcakes to the mini-cheesecakes all the treats are a wonderful. I love the café area, it is the perfect place to enjoy the sweets. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, Nicole, the owner/baker, is a pleasure to work with and has been very supportive of the community and community organizations in the La Grange area.

Love this place! Great treats and comfortable spot to have coffee. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Can't wait to go back. Upscale pasteries without having to eat a nouvelle cuisine dinner before hand Everything is fresh.

I recently went in to try their macarons and was surprised to see that they were super small. I ordered one of each flavor that they had available and was then taken aback by the bumps in the shell and the misshapen foot of the shell which is normally round. The flavors were good, a little faint but not bad. The salted caramel though felt a bit stale and hard. The green tea was my favorite and was the only one nicely shaped. The maple bacon and chocolate were both okay. I was also hoping to get a cupcake but am not a fan of cupcakes with too much frosting which was all of their cupcakes and so I stuck to just the macarons. Overall, simply okay. Perhaps it was a bad batch and so I am hopeful that it will improve.

I don't even know what it was called but it was amazing. It was a custard-y breast shaped slice of heaven. Hazelnut custard with cakey, crumbly crust. A definite 10, I don't usually care for sweets, but this was the exception. Nicole is super talented - baker supreme. Nice clean space, sparse but nicely decorated. Check it out, you will not be dissapointed.

This is my favorite place for cupcakes on the south side! Cute atmosphere and tasty treats. There's always some new and interesting cupcake flavors. I especially enjoyed the panna cotta. Nicole, the owner, takes great care of her customers. She also provided awesome super-hero cookies for some of the events I've thrown, and they are always a HUGE hit. If you're in downtown La Grange, definitely stop by.

Great cupcakes. Lovely frosting! Customer service needs work. Also, this is not the place to take your children- items are set down low and breakables are within reach. There are no clear architectural or structural boundaries that a child would understand not to cross.

  • Irene G.

I had the salted caramel cupcake and it was pretty good, but not the best I've had. I'll have to come back to taste their other flavors. Great spot in downtown La Grange!

Bought three cupcakes, four macaroons and this one brownish looking box that looked unappealing but decided to buy it after she explained the contents of it. I think it was "The Caramel" So glad I got it, one bite and I was in a different world. It was soooo good and melted in your mouth, husband tried it and he was instantly in love. The kids really didn't like the cupcakes too much I think it's more for an adult acquired taste. I thought they were tasty. Can't wait to make a return trip for that weird looking block that was super delicious

I'm obsessed with this place. It's true. I've never been a cupcake fangirl, BUT THAT FROSTING THO. The buttercream (?) is so light and airy it seems impossible. Nothing is overly sweet, which is my usual complaint about bakeries. We've been a couple times now and it's no exaggeration to list their treats among the best I've ever had. We'll be back for the weekend croissants...often.

I placed a large order of cupcakes here for a couples shower that I threw for my sister and her fiancée. They were delicious! All of the guests had great things to say about them. We had the Heaven Bacon, Vanilla Peach, Chocolate Cream Cheese, White Chocolate Raspberry and their signature flavor, Salted Caramel. All of them were delicious but my favorite was the Chocolate Cream Cheese, it was perfect! Nicole, the owner, was so accommodating and helpful. She made us labels to display with the cupcakes so everyone knew which was which. She even surprised me with a lovely treat when I came to pick up- the leftover candied bacon! I'm pretty sure that made my husband's day. The flavors change on a weekly basis, but you can order whatever flavors you would like if you give her enough notice. Like them on Facebook and you will get to see the new flavors each week. There's a 10% discount if you order five dozen or more. There's also a punch card- buy 10 cupcakes and get 2 free!

They definitely get a star for the way their cupcakes and macaroons look. The other star is for their bags if you spend $10-20 or more. But they don't get that many stars because I chose this place based on the internet and yelp reviews. Nowhere on their website do they tell you they change their flavors every Tuesday, so i assumed they had the flavors on their menu everyday. It wasn't until I went in that the staff told me they tell us on Facebook. I'm sorry if not everyone looks at your Facebook page... she also had a bit of an attitude. As far as the pastries go, I got 8 cupcakes, a chocolate almond tart, and a salted caramel macaroon. The cupcakes were super rich to what felt like diabetes in a wrapper. The cake itself was kind of dry but still sweet and frosting was extremely buttery, and just too much. You can't eat the cupcake without the frosting making a mess on your face. The macaroon might as well have been a cookie because not only was it super tiny, which made it not worth the $1.25 but it crumbled when I bit into it. It doesn't even melt in your mouth. And the chocolate almond tart was just okay... again, extremely rich.

This place is amazing! We bought a container of cake with sprinkles layered with frosting. So light and not at all overly sweet. I really think this could have been the best frosting I have ever had. YUM!

Absolutely amazing. As a gym junkie that watches every little thing I eat, this is where I go to splurge. I've been to more then a couple local bakerys , this place is my place to go to!

Decided to stop in on a whim after having lunch near by. First of all, there weren't many cupcakes to choose from, only about four different flavors. I went with salted caramel, which was basically a chocolate cupcake with caramel and sea salt sprinkled on the frosting. These aren't even my biggest complaints. The frosting was terrible. It tasted overwhelmingly like butter. I basically just scraped off the caramel and ate that with my chocolate cupcake. When the staff member asked how I liked it, I told her the frosting was very butter-y. She said "That's because we use real butter." To which I replied, "Apparently a lot of it." Then instead of offering to try something else, she said "Sorry you didn't like it" in a very condescending tone. Poor customer service. I would never go there again or recommend this place to anyone.

It just doesn't get better. I keep trying and the cream still tastes like a stick of butter. I'm just stopping here. I'm not going to continue trying it.

New Cupcake Shop Alert! Roll your eyes all you want, but I'm a firm believer that cupcakes are not, nor have they ever been, just a craze. Cupcakes will always be cool in my book (so long as no nasty butter-cream is involved) and I'm confident that soon enough all you turn-coat frozen yogurt fans will come crawling back to Team Cupcake. We came in around 2/2:30 on a Sunday afternoon, so there wasn't a ton of stuff left and the place has only been open for about a week so inside is still a little stark, but it's cute in the making. There's 2 or 3 small tables to sit at and they had a few coffee pumps if you find yourself needing to wash down your baked treats with. I was hoping for a larger selection, but left happy with the two cupcakes we did select (and really, I guess I didn't *need* more than two). Amongst the selection they had mini macarons that I'd ordered but didn't receive, but also wasn't rung up for -- I was going to say something but I didn't want to have to make change or charge my card for a second transaction and I went with not receiving them as a sign that I didn't need them, especially since I'd been pretty good all week as far as eating and working out is concerned. For cupcakes we got a red velvet (the partner's favorite) and the salted caramel cupcake (my favorite). They didn't have all their flavors on display and what they did have on display wasn't labeled- so there's definitely room for improvement, but the girl at the register was more than happy to walk me through what they had and get the red velvet from the back. The cupcakes are little smaller than your standard cupcake shop cuppies, but at $2.75 they're also a bit cheaper as I think the going rate for designer cupcakes is around $3 a cupcake... and a whole heck of a lot cheaper than frozen yogurt (the devil's dessert). Sidebar: They have croissants and other treats on Saturdays and Sundays, but I'm assuming that's a 'while supplies last' type thing as there was none by the time we'd arrived at 2pm, but all the more reason to head back in.

After eating lunch in downtown La Grange, we were on the search for something sweet. That's when Isn't That Sweet popped up on our walk and we decided to try it! The cashier, who I assume is the chef, Nicole, was very friendly! She explained that this location just opened up on Thursday, so I felt excited to try out somewhere that was brand spanking new to the area. There were not any signs in front of each of the pastries, so she was happy to explain each of them. We decided on the sea salt caramel vanilla cupcake ($2.50) and the lemon tart ($3.00). We even got two free cookies with our purchase, which was thoughtful and a great way to get the Isn't That Sweet brand logo out there (the cookies are decorated like the cupcake logo). Chocolate samples were available, which we could not resist. The salted dark chocolate almond bite I had tasted very rich and divine. There were tables available for "dining in" but we decided to get our sweets to go. The packaging/overall presentation of the sweets is so cute and professional! We felt like we were bringing home something really special. I have never had sea salt caramel frosting before, so the taste was surprising to me at first. However, the consistency was very smooth, fluffy, and not overly sweet, so I'm definitely a fan. The cupcake itself was a little crumbly, which left me wondering how fresh it was, but it didn't taste stale at all either. Full disclosure: it is entirely possible that I've eaten way too many grocery store cupcakes in my day and that I don't actually know what a "good" cupcake tastes like. The lemon tart was heavenly: sweet but not overly so, not gooey or firm, and had a perfectly fresh pastry encasing. All I can say is YUM. I cannot wait for my next visit to Isn't That Sweet to try the other available pastries, like the chocolate cupcakes, which were already sold out when I arrived. This is the perfect addition to the already thriving downtown La Grange businesses!

Hubs and I had the salty caramel cupcake and meyer lemon tart. OUTSTANDING! Cupcake was super moist and the tart was so refreshing. Our only regret is that we didn't use them for our wedding cupcake bar 6 months ago. Such a cute place!

OK...I've been thinking about this review for a while. I wanted this place to be good. I read reviews, and I was excited. When I arrived, the staff seemed nice. They were accommodating. However, there weren't many options (this was a Saturday around noon). We asked for cupcakes with fruit. All they had was key lime pie. We also purchased chocolate, French toast/bacon, etc. When we tried out the cupcakes a few hours later, we were sorely disappointed. We tried warming a couple of them in the microwave. They were extremely dry, low in flavor, and there is more icing than cake. Just an underwhelming experience. We ended up throwing 2 of 6 cupcakes away. I want this place to improve so that we have a good, local cupcake destination.

I bake. A lot. Therefore, I am very critical of bakeries and always think my bake goods are better. : O I am impressed with the cupcakes here. Moist. Flavorful. The frostings are fluffy and not overly sweet. I just learned that the owner went to the French Pastry School. If you know about culinary schools, Like I do, you will know this is a Class A school. The dean is an MOF and instructor.

Not as good as their many competitors- cupcakes are dry and they do not have a lot of interesting flavors- macaroons were dry/flavorless compared to others I have had. the price is right, though at about $1. baker/clerk was rude when I inquired about the different items they had. Also, they have a minimum $5 charge for credit card purchases, so if you don't have cash you can't just buy 1 cupcake.

Though it was a hot Sunday morning when we were strolling downtown La Grange and we passed yogurt shop after yogurt shop it was the sign for macarons that stopped me in my tracks! My boyfriend had never had them so we happily enjoyed salted caramel, grapefruit and our fav hazelnut delicacies. Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Location: 5/5

I frequent Isn't That Sweet regularly and am never disappointed! Chef Nicole is always making something amazing, and has so many options to choose from, from cupcakes to entremets to INCREDIBLY yummy macaroons! I've had others in town, and none compare! She makes everything in-store from scratch, so the treats are always super fresh. This week, I treated myself to toasted coconut and sour cherry macaroons (and a lemon mousse tart!) and they were so good! Chef Nicole always handles the traffic through town with pleasantries. She politely and patiently answers her customers' questions. I have watched her juggle a customer phone call for a special order with her in-store customers seamlessly while baking up a storm. I bring friends and family in every chance I get- she deserves the business! I have also seen firsthand how hordes of teens overrun businesses, and she doesn't put up with it. It's nice to know I can go somewhere for a sweet treat and not have to fight the disrespectful kids who hang out en masse around town. My personal favorite cupcake is the matcha green tea with chocolate ganache frosting. My husband LOVES strawberry cream pie, and her signature salted caramel cupcake is a revelation!. When she makes panacotta (a light, fluffy pudding) you HAVE to get in to try it! And I've never had a tart at Isn't That Sweet that I didn't like.

Yummo! I'm a fan of any place that has green tea cupcakes! Everything we've had there is excellent. Service is great and it's a nice little place too. It's a bit pricey since little bakeries are all the rage now, but not out of line with similar places in the area.

I was craving something sweet, and happened to be in the area and popped in. I've always been a big fan of gourmet cupcakes, and these ones did not disappoint! My husband and I don't live in the area, so we were there some time ago, but we can't wait to come back next week and see what's new!!
